At the start, taking photographs may seem complicated, however with this collection of 10 photography tips, you are much nearer to taking great images than you imagine. You don’t need any fancy cameras or even years of photographic knowledge. You just require a motivation to study and this set of photography tips.
Have fun!
Photography Tips 1 – Use All Your Available Space
Don’t be frightened to work with all of the Space inside your photograph. If you wish to take a shot of an object, it is ok for it to take up the whole photo with hardly any surrounds being displayed. Keep unnecessary distractions from your photo.
Photography Tips 2 – Look at Your Subject’s Shape
To analyze a subject’s shape is more crucial than just looking at a object. The shape or form of the subject is a key driver as to the point of view that you take your photo from. This is an area that I think you should spend some time reading more into as I can’t cover all aspects of this here.
Photography Tips 3 – Motion In Your Photo Is A No-No
Motion in shots of still objects ruins the photo. You must ensure that your subjects are very immobile before you take your photo. You can also increase your ISO or shutter speed to “freeze” your subjects if there is wind or environmental movement.
Photography Tips 4 – Using Contrasting Between The Colours Of Your Subjects
There are some great photos of contrasting colours like red and green, blue and yellows and of course the nostalgic black and whites.
Photography Tips 5 – Close The Gap To Your Subject
If you are too far-off away from your object, you will end up with photographs that do not have any focus and will tend to be quite featureless. By getting up- near to your subject, you will make sure that the viewer will know what you are taking a photo of and your shots will be much improved.
Photography Tips 6 – Shutter Lag
Shooting action shots with digital camera’s can be tricky due to shutter lags. What this means is, when you press the button to take the photo, it can take up to a second for the shutter to take a photo, by that time what you were photographing would have moved or changed somehow. This means you have to compensate for shutter lag by predicting what your subject is going to do and taking the photo just before it takes the action you want. More expensive digital cameras don’t have this problem.
Photography Tips 7 – Follow Your Subject
When you take photos of moving objects, ensure that you follow the subject with your camera. This will result in a blurred background but a still subject. If you combine this with the next tip, you will end up with a sure thing.
Photography Tips 8 – Continuous Shots
To pan like I suggested above you will need a camera that does continuous shots and doesn’t need to stop and process after every shot.
Photography Tips 9 – Great photography starts 6 inches behind the camera
Night time shots can be spectacular, almost magical…. if done right! If not they can look horrible. Really horrible. Without adequate lighting, even good camera’s can turn out crappy photos if the photographer doesn’t know what he or she is doing.
Photography Tips 10 – Read your Camera’s Manual
If your digital camera has a special night time mode, read the manual and follow their instructions on how to use it properly.
If you grasp these photography tips, you will be on a path to taking some excellent photographs and capturing that most important moment.
