Nikon D90 Camera
The Nikon D90 camera feels so much like the D80. In fact, when I bought it, I had to double check the badge just to make sure I had the right camera.
Since the D90 looks so alike its predecessor, the camera appears as if it is only one of those cameras with subdued incremental upgrades. You are wrong. Dig deeper and you will be surprised to know that it has features to keep Nikon fans more than happy.
Optical viewfinder
Similar to the Nikon D80 viewfinder, the D90 viewfinder features an 11-point AF system in a diamond arrangement. Still sporting the name Multi-Cam 1000, the autofocus engine of the D90 has been updated to include the 3-dimensional focus tracking. It also features Face Detection, which biases autofocus points in favor of the eyes instead of the nose and other objects in a scene.
Live view shooting
Using other Nikon DSLRs, you need to turn the Drive Mode face to Lv, then you must depress the shutter button to lock the mirror. This is barely instinctive, but the D90 features a live view button that you can find at the back of the camera. This live view button is within reach of the thumb.
Scene recognition
Nikon has been working on scene recognition for years, and they are reaping the fruit of their labor. Their newest units now have this system. The Nikon D90 comes with this feature.
The bottom line
Owners of the nice D80 will definitely drool over the D90. Building on the potency of its exceptional predecessor, the D90 has an awful lot going for it. This newest camera from Nikon has upgraded many specs and offers cool and new features over the Nikon D80.
The bottom line is, the D90 is a remarkably well-rounded DSLR offering. I highly recommend it.
