Photography – Tips You Can’t Live Without

1. Getting closer – Bring your viewers into the photo with you as if they were there. Do not think twice about getting as close to the subject unless you are putting yourself in a dangerous situation. Some of the best photos to be captured is a subject in brilliant detail, and very close. Try to make your photographs grab the viewers by the collar and say “Look at me and envy me.”

2. Multiple angles – Any one thing can be captured on camera and there’s a million different ways to take its picture. There’s only one picture that will stand out from the 999,999 others. Be sure you’re snapping from every angle. Up high, down low, to the right and left. The lighting from one photograph that differs from the rest may reveal what’s worth infinite words.

3. Take your time and be quick – Different situations – You are the one taking a photo of it. You are the one that needs to be amused by it. Become one with the subject you are photographing and that subject will become one amazing picture. Do not rush it and regret it. Make sure you’re satisfied with your pictures at the current moment.

There may be times when you need to be quicker. Most people are not used to having their photos taken, especially kids. Be quick to capture their smiles. There are different moments when you need to be fast and slower.

4. Lighting – Be aware of your lighting. The subject may look better with lighting from the front, the side or behind. This you’d never know unless you take multiple shots with lighting from different angles.

5. Be prepared – Every photographer has a favorite subject to photograph. Whether it be birds, landscapes or beaches, you never know when these things will come about. Always have your camera with you, fully charged with plenty of availability on your memory card. It’s that one instance, that perfect moment and amazing setting when you’ll need your camera most.

6. Tell a story – If there is an element in your photo that can help the story you should keep it. If it does not really belong with what you are wanting, make sure you keep it out of view.

7. Shutter speed – Use a fast shutter speed to capture, in brilliant detail, a subject of fast movement in real time. For all you sports fans out there, imagine the big slugger stepping up to a plate and hitting a home run. While using fast shutter speed (1/500 and above), you will now be able to capture the perfect moment when the bat connects with the ball along with the batter’s memorable face expression with it, without having to take one snap and getting lucky.

8. Off-centering the subject – Try not to always focus your subject in the center of the photo every time. Move it over to the left or right by one third. Having the subject shifted to the left or right may in fact bring it to life even more. Try it out for yourself.

9. Use a tripod – A tripod is the ultimate way to prevent camera shake and results in amazing stability that will make your images as sharp as they can be. If no tripod is available, use a car, a friend’s shoulder, a table or fence to prevent as much camera shake as possible.

10. Be creative – Photography stands out when there’s great visual effects. There isn’t much to photographs that are not compelling to the eye. Make your photograph as unique as possible and explore a variety of colors. Use ideas from others and then create your own.
