First thing a photographer must do is to know and consult the family when they would like to pose for the family portrait. As a San Diego wedding photographer I see that the timing of this is different for every wedding. Some people prefer to take pictures before the wedding. This allows them to avoid the hectic time after the wedding.Others prefer to do it during the wedding.You will be more prepared if you can determine when this will happen.

Next, you should determine the exact starting time of the wedding itself. This way you can capture great shots of guests arriving. As a San Diego photographer this is a great time to capture candid shots of your guests.It would also give you more time to prepare all that is needed for the big ceremony.

Finally you will want to know what time the reception is. This is important because it will allow you to know how much time you have.In other words, you will be able to balance your time between taking shots at the wedding location and moving to the reception location. These are some tips for an amateur photographer but they are some tips I have gained doing San Diego wedding photographer work. So if you are a professional they could help as well too. Because as I mentioned earlier a wedding shoot could be one of the biggest jobs for a photographer.

The first tip would be to work yourself to be in the moment. What do I mean by that? Well everyone knows what happens at a wedding. There are planned events.But a lot of emotions are being displayed even if the events are planned. Since you have been to many wedding be ready for those moments.Those shots that have emotions in them will be the best among all the photos that you will be taking. In my portfolio as a San Diego photographer you can see that to be the case.

Another thing to take in mind is that in a wedding people will always be moving.So do not focus on taking still shots.Capturing the movements of the people in the wedding would result to some of your best photos. It is a hard trick to capture but can be done. Of course I had to hone my skills doing San Diego event photography to be able to do this.But once you start to learn taking photos of moving subjects you will love it.You have the chance of topping their hired photographer.That would be a great feeling if you are still an amateur. Plus you will be able to share those great photos with your friends.Plus, who knows, it might just be the start of your business.
